UPSC Civil Services is a national level screening examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission for recruitment of various posts and civil services under Government of India such as IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, etc. UPSC CSE is conducted in three stages i.e. Preliminary examination, mains examination and Interview for final selection.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Your age must be between 21 and 32 years.

  • Candidates must have a Graduate degree from any University or equivalent qualification.

  • Those aspirants who have not completed the six attempts at Civil Services exam, but have not crossed upper age limit.

Exam Pattern

 

 

Papers of qualifying nature:

  • Paper A – An Indian language selected by the candidates

  • Paper B – English

Papers to be counted for merit:

  • Essay (Paper I)

  • General Studies (Paper II-V)

  • Optional Subjects (Paper VI-VII)

  • Two papers of multiple-type questions: General Studies (GS) and Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT)

  • Total Marks: 400 marks; 200 marks for each paper

  • Exam Duration: 2 hours.

  • Language: Hindi and English
