There is no such benefit of appearing for JEE in class 12. You have more of the syllabus similar to each other. Since you have to study the same for 12th and also for entrance exams, it is better to give it at the same time. Also, if you take a drop, you have to wait for another year, studying the same topics again, which in majority of the cases of the students, frustrates them as they have to study the same topics for 3 years. So people prefer to give it at the same time.
