What is the bond order of CO group

Hey there

CO comes in that group which has dative bonding and so students get confused so they get confused. The bond order of CO is 3 as oxygen shares two of its electrons with carbon and makes a dative bond filling it's shell. You can also simply prove it by molecular orbital theory.

Bond order is the number of covalent bonds between any pair of atoms in a molecule.there fore the bond order of CO is three .
