Dear student

Software engineering and CSE have similar curriculum till 4th semester. From there we have a deviation both in curriculum and teaching methodology.

SWE deals with Software development fields like testing, metrics. While CSE deals with Artificial intelligence and programming language. For instance DBMS is taught to both of us in 6th semester but their approach is way different from ours.( in fact, they use a different textbook from us). SWE is relatively small, new, but well controlled department with a Dynamic H.O.D. whereas CSE is a large, well established , but not so well controlled.

Events in CSE are frequent with more number of projects handled. SWE has very less opportunities for department projects. BottomLine, If you are not really bothered by the fact that you are not in the 4 core branches, SWE is equally good option, in fact may prove better than CSE.

Hope this helps

All the best!!!
