dear student,

From placement perspective, there is hardly any difference. Almost all companies which look for CS majors, treat you in no different way if you majored in IT. Having said that,I have seen exceptions where some companies wanted B.tech CSE only. But they were mediocre companies with known reputation for assholery (new word yay :) )
From academic perspective the coursework of B.tech CSE and IT are almost identical. Although subjects involving very deep theoritical computer science concepts are usually not taught to IT students. For example in our college CSE students had a course in Artificial Intelligence while IT had a course in e-commerce in its place.

hope it helps!!
