I like the fact that you are interested in this field, but there is high competition and you need to believe in yourself to get to the highest point in your career.

Firstly, you need to go to an acting school. It will provide you a platform to showcase your skills and also to learn better skills. You can use your connections to grow up in this field and to make a career. Many a times, directors and casting agents have tie ups with renowned acting schools and maybe you can try your luck there if you show excellent performance.

Secondly, use social media platforms to showcase your pictures and talent. In order to get your face out there, you will need more that a few selfies.  You will need to build a modeling portfolio. Portfolio standards have evolved a lot over recent years and you want to make sure your portfolio is professional and polished.

There are two types of portfolios you will need to curate. The first is a traditional, hard copy portfolio. This is like your resume. You have to bring this with you to all in-person casting calls. It should feature your best 8 to 12 images, and be presented in a portfolio case with a brief catalogue of your modeling experience.

The second is your online portfolio. This is where you can really show the breadth of your experience and versatility. Building a strong portfolio shows casting agents just what you bring to the table and what you can do for them. It should be ever-evolving as you gain more experience.

These are some basic things you need to follow to start your career as a model or actor. You will get chances once you start and you should use every chance you get.
