Together with the immediate course (Science) of the Madras University, the Department of Physics of Farook College was started in the year 1952.  Currently the department provides facilities for academic instructions at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels.  The electronics and general physical laboratories of the department are renovated in tune with the newly introduced semester of the University of Calicut. The workshop attached to the Physics Department meets the mechanical needs of the students in connection with their project work. The department is a recognized research centre under the University of Calicut.
