Predicting your marks from your percentile in JEE mains exam would be difficult because this is your normalised score and percentile is calculated on the basis of number of candidates who get less than or equal to your marks and it also depends upon the total number of candidates appeared for the examination and marks scored by the toppers, this data changes every year so it becomes quite hard to predict marks also percentile vary with 0.000001 factor.
And your approximate all India rank can be calculated by using the below formula:
(100- your percentile score)*869010/100
here 86 9010 is the number of candidate appeared for the examination in January session.
So using this form the your approximate AIR at 98 percentile would be: 17380.
if we consider the number of candidate in September session of exam would increase to 12,00000 then you approximate AIR at 98 percentile would be: 24000.

It isn't possible to calculate the marks from a particular percentile beforehand, since the 100 percentile is not fixed. It depends upon the highest mark scored by the topper. For instance, if 260 is the highest score, then that is considered to be 100 percentile and all other percentiles are calculated accordingly.

Percentile also depends upon a number of other factors such as the total no of aspirants appearing for the exam, the no of shifts in which it is being conducted a well as the no of people with the same score as you.

So instead of focusing on percentile, try to concentrate on the marks and try hard enough to answer the maximum no of questions without second guessing.

Dear candidate

With 98 percentile in JEE Mains you will get marks around 147 to 157 or nearby and with those marks and percentile you will get a rank around 18,000 or more around that and this is just a prediction according to the previous year trends of marks, ranks and percentiles and it may be different this year as it depends on many factors like number of students attending the exam, reservation, difficulty of the paper and number of seats and many othere so, your real mark and rank may differ from the above predicted one's.
