Well sir, it depends that on which domain you are working as a mechanical engineer.

I cofess, from IIT, you can expect a higher salary and better growth prospects.

Regarding, salary domain wise

Automobile engineer - Avg CTC - 10lacs

Consultancy - Avg CTC - 6-7 lacs

Professor - Avg CTC - 7-8 lac
