All the branches are good in engineering it all depends on your interest and passion. You should always prefer a branch according to your interest.

If we compare the branches then CSE is the most demading branch among students followed by ECE, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and IT.

CSE branch has highest number of placements and packages.

Expected salary for freshers is around Rs. 20,000 to 70,000 per month by MNCs. However, this goes up to Rs. 1 Crore PA for jobs offered to IITians by IT giants like Facebook, Google and Twitter.

If you are pass out from top NITs/IITs and top private colleges like BITS Pillani, VIT Vellore Manipal you can expect a package around 10- 30 lakhs per annum.

You should focus on to get good colleges in engineering to get placed in good companies with good packages. There is lot of competition iin engineering to get top colleges. So, you should prepare accordingly.

Good luck!!
