Management consultants are often self-employed and work for companies or organizations that need advice or direction in order to become more efficient, productive and successful. People plan on serving as a consultant for a number of years before moving up to higher positions. However, others see consulting as a long term career. The job is relatively stable and pays well but keep in mind hours are tough and your schedule is somewhat erratic.
