Ecological hotspots are the regions of high biodiversity. As per the Conservation International, biodiversity hotspots are the region having at least 1500 endemic vascular plants and it must be threatened but it should be having 30% of its original vegetation. In India there are four ecological hotspots. They are- the Himalayas, the Western Ghats, the Indo-Burma region and the Sundaland. According to Conservation International there are 36 biodiversity hotspots in the world.
