Why doesn't nitrobenzene undergo Friedel Crafts reactions
It's not nucleophilic enough.
The Friedel-Crafts reaction can be thought of as a competition for an alkyl cation by two nucleophiles: an aromatic compound andAlCl4AlCl4. The latter functions as a chloride donor.
It's a pretty close competition even with mild electron withdrawing groups like a halogen. But a nitro group reduces electron density in benzene too much, and it can't compete.
