Hi there.

Following the 2016 election, government authorities and media outlets attacked social media sites and other tech firms, including Google, for enabling the dissemination of false information that could have affected the outcome of the vote. Following this criticism, Google pledged to stop its advertisements from appearing on phoney news websites, thus lowering the financial motivation for publishers to distribute false information. In other words, Google makes a lot of money from hyper-partisan, conservative fake news, which may be why it keeps working with them and giving them the option to mask their identities from advertising. That false news, including conspiracy theories and other inaccurate information, is not prohibited under Google's terms of service or the company's dashboard for advertisers is telling.
