Hi there,

Green revolution is a term which describes rapid increase in growth of wheat and rices in developing countries by use of high yielding varieties of seed.

Green revolution was first started in India in 1960 in punjab . It was introduced as part of development program of Indian government.

Green revolution was successful in states like punjab, Uttar pradesh, haryana as they had all facilities and irrigation systems to enjoy benefits of Green revolution. While in some state like jharkand green revolution was not successful.

Green revolution was adopted in India due following reasons:

India suffered shortage of food and famines so it was necessary to increase production.

Productivity level of Agriculture was very low so Green revolution was implemented to increase productivity by using high yielding variety of seeds.

Hope it helps you

Good luck!
