Latest: Meet B.Tech expert in your city to shortlist colleges
Hi,
OPECA is the private colleges association. The number of seats lying vacant in these are growing year by year so they want the Govt to conduct OJEE. However this year too, admissions will be through JEE Main. What is interesting is that generally each year, the OJEE Board conducts another entrance after admissions through JEE Main are over to fill up the vacant seats. So in a way the entrance test is conducted but only for the vacant seats. Moreover AICTE has asked colleges to shut down if their admissions for the year are 30% or less than the authorised intake so OPECA has another worry on that account.
Private colleges of Odisha asked state government to conduct their own entrance exam as seats are vacant in private colleges.
According, to the news In the last four years since Odisha joined JEE Main, vacancy has gone up from 50 per cent to 75 per cent leaving the private professional colleges tottering, the association said.
Odisha is a participating state in JEE Main 2018 as per their brochure.
Good luck!!
