Hello Ketan,
Yes, you will be able to get admission in IITs after attempting either EE or EC paper. You can opt for any of the two paper. Since you are from B.Tech- EEE branch, you should attempt the same paper in GATE as well.

Thank you very much for the prompt reply!
This doubt of mine arouse from the fact that vlsi mtech in IIT kanpur has mentioned the eligibility criterion to be a gate score in EC paper only and not EE paper. Could you verify this and confirm, if possible?
