Course Overview
This course is offered under NPTEL, funded by MoHRD, by IIT Kharagpur. It is aimed at teaching the basic mathematics that is essential in every stream of undergraduate studies in the categories of engineering and sciences. The course comprises topics in integral and differential calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations which students will be able to apply in a number of engineering problems.
This course will contain topics like Taylor's and Maclaurin's Theorems, Indeterminate Forms, Mean Value Theorems, etc. Partial derivatives, Taylor's development of functions of several variables, minima and maxima, and differentiability are also part of the course.
The course also teaches Leibnitz rule (differentiation under the integral sign), improper integrals, applications of multiple integrals and multiple integrals, their properties. Other topics incorporated in a series of 60 lectures over the course of 12 weeks, include Linear Equations’ Systems, Dimension and Basis of a Vector Space, Properties of a Matrix and its Rank, Vector Spaces.

A graduate with an IT base.
Certification Qualifying Details
For certification, the exam is compulsory. The lessons are free, but the exam has a registration fee. criteria: 25 percent assignments + 75 percent examination. There will be 12 assignments over the entire duration of the course. Best 8 out of 12 will be considered for the 25 percent average included in the final score. The exam will be of 100 marks, scaled down to 75 percent in the final score.

Step 2 – On the top right-hand corner of the web page displayed, you will find the SIGN-IN/REGISTER button. Click on the button
Step 3 – Use your Gmail id to register yourself to the server.
Step 4 – Choose Engineering Mathematics – I. The page that comes up, gives the details. Go through those and click on Next. You can now fill in your details and click on the Join button.
Once you are done, you will receive an email to confirm your admission to the course.
