The M. Sc. course in Microbiology was started in the year of 2012 from the Department of Biotechnology of the university with an aim of providing quality education and impart in-depth knowledge to the students in various areas of microbiology so as to meet the demand of industry and academia. It is a multidisciplinary branch of biological sciences developed with the vision to prepare post-graduates for basic research and applied research in the frontier areas of microbiology. Microbiology is study of microbes like bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae and finds its use and applications in the various fields such as food and dairy industry, pharmaceuticals, fermentation, recombinant biopharmaceuticals, microbial-based bioremediation, microbial waste management, water treatment plants, and agriculture. The department has good infrastructure facilities of the classroom and laboratories with modern technology based instrument.
The candidate should have passed with 50% marks (45% in the case of SC/ST category) in aggregate in Bachelor's degree with any of the subjects of Microbiology, Bio-Technology, Zoology, Botany, Food Technology, Bio-Chemistry, Medical or Pharmacy from any recognized University.
