ABS Academy, Burdwan Admission 2025: Dates, Application Form, Courses, Fees & Eligibility

ABS Academy, Burdwan, and is one of the reputed co-educational affiliated colleges for teacher education. The institute boasts of three specialized courses pertaining to education and approval by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).  The merit base admission procedure of ABS Academy follows transparency regarding state government, Union Territory, and affiliated university policies. The admission communications for the three programs: B.Ed, D.El.Ed, and M.Ed, are held on the basis of marks obtained in qualifying examinations and/or performance in the entrance examinations.

The academic year typically begins in August-September, while the admission process usually begins several months prior. Eligibility criteria may differ from one program to another. For example, candidates who want to be considered for admission to B.Ed and D.El.Ed programs should be undergraduate degree holders from a recognized university. Usually, students required to seek admission in the M.Ed program need to have a degree in B.Ed. The institute or the affiliated university may set specific academic standards such as the minimum percentage in any qualifying examination.

Application Process

A prospective student must take several steps to apply to ABS Academy, Burdwan: 

1. Admission Notification: The institute will put up admission notice on its official website and other media channels indicating the opening up of the application process of various programs.

2. Application Form: Candidates obtain an application form and complete it. It should be available online on the institute's website or in hard copy at the institute's admission office

3. Document submission: Along with the completed form, candidates submit their necessary documents usually 

Passport size photographs, 

Mark sheets of qualifying examinations (10th, 12th Graduation, Post-graduation applicable),

Category certificate (if applicable),

4. Application fee: Candidates need to pay the prescribed application fee. The pay mode and amount shall be mentioned in the admission notification. Entrance exam: Depending upon the program and its admission policy for that academic year, applicants may be required to take an entrance exam. 

5. Merit list: Based on qualifying exam performance and or entrance examination, a merit list is prepared and published by the institute.

6. Counseling and Document Verification: Selected candidates are called for counseling and document verification. This is a critical stage that requires the presentation of all original documents for verification by the candidates.

7. Fee Payment: The candidates need to pay the course fee in time once their admission has been confirmed through successful verification and allotment of the seat.

8. Orientation: Most probably fresher students will have to attend usually an orientation session before the classes commence.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Ed (Bachelor of Education): The B.Ed program at ABS Academy has an approved 200 intake for students. Merit is the sole criterion for admission into the B.Ed course, basing the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination score on which selection is made. Selection will follow the policies set by the state governments, Union Territory administrations, and the affiliated universities.

D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education): The institute offers 100 seats for the D.El.Ed program. All admission processes for D.El.Ed are identical to those for B.Ed, selecting candidates for admission based on merit in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. The selection procedure will follow the guidelines of the state government and concerned educational authority. 

M.Ed (Master of Education): This M.Ed program at ABS Academy has an approved intake of 50 applicants. Admission to this postgraduate course is also merit-based, taking into account qualifying marks in the examination usually B.Ed and/or scores on the entrance exam. The selection process follows the prescribed policies of the state government, Union Territory administration, and affiliated university.
