Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray Polytechnic was established in the year 1950 at Kolkata, West Bengal. This is an affiliated college, specially approved by AICTE, offering various diploma courses in engineering for their students. The polytechnic is located on a 2.64-acre campus with an enrolment of 945 students and a faculty strength of 37. 

The polytechnic firmly commits itself to providing the students with all facilities that will make their stay in the institution a rewarding experience. It has a college library that is an ideal resource center with a huge collection of books, journals, and reference materials for students to help in their academic pursuit. The admission process of Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray Polytechnic aims to select deserving candidates in respect of six full-time diploma programs.

The major entrance for students desiring access to Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray Polytechnic is the Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnics West Bengal, nicknamed JEXPO. It is the entrance examination for candidates wishing to pursue any one of the diploma-level courses offered by the institute. The JEXPO is a state-level examination, conducted once a year, for admission to different polytechnic institutes in West Bengal.

The eligibility criteria are said to be fulfilled in general if the candidate passes the 10th standard (or equivalent) from any recognized board. It is also a must to have Mathematics and Physical Science as compulsory subjects. Application Process

1. Application for JEXPO: Eligible applicants for the Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnics West Bengal (JEXPO) may apply through the official website of the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education.

2. Entrance Examination: The applicants will sit for JEXPO on the scheduled date. This exam generally comprises Mathematics, Physical Science and English.

3. Result Declaration: After the conclusion of the examination, results are announced on the official website of JEXPO. The candidates will be able to view their scores and ranks.

4. Counseling Registration: The shortlisted candidates will have to register for counseling before registration. This will involve entering detailed information regarding their choices of institutes and courses.

5. Document Verification: The shortlisted candidates for admission will have to report for the counseling session along with all required original documents for verification. The required documents include:

  • JEXPO rank card

  • Class 10 mark sheet and certificate

  • Proof of date of birth

  • Category certificate (if applicable)

  • Domicile certificate (if required)

  • Any other documents specified by the institute

6. Seat allotment: Seats will be allotted based on the rank attained, preference given by the candidate, and availability of seats at Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray Polytechnic.

7. Fee Payment: After seat allotment, the Admission Fee must be paid by the candidate within the stipulated time frame in order to secure their seat.

8. Reporting at the Institution: Candidates will be required to report to Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray Polytechnic on the specified date for completing admission formalities and orientation.
