Churachandpur Government College, popularly known as CGC, was inaugurated in 1964 in Churachandpur, Manipur. This is a government affiliated college, located in a campus of total area of 5867.31 square meters is NAAC accredited. CGC promotes list of the undergraduate programmes which includes a total of 22 courses in four distinctive degree programmes. At present, the college enrols 4111 students and among them half of them are males while the other half are female. CGC has sixty seven full time faculty members which provide reasonable faculty to student ratio and provides quality education to its students in different faculties such as Arts, Science etc.
The college has effective facilities to support the learners to achieve the intended training quality. The library plays a knowledge centre where more than 8,560 text, reference, newspapers, and international academic journals are found. The science students in particular are able to benefit from well equipped laboratories that provide some practical experience vital in their academic process. CGC also has good Infrastructural facilities particularly in information technology in tune with the change in the educational sector. In the college, there are hostels for boys and girls where students from far areas can be provided with better accommodations. Besides academics, health conscious students can enjoy the indoor and outdoor games facilities of college like football, volleyball and badminton. Some extra-curricular activities are games & Sports Meet that is celebrated annually by the college to encourage students on exercise and also sports. Other facilities are canteen facility, an auditorium for meetings and seminars, a health centre having first aid facilities and sufficient car parking facility for faculty, staff and students.
Churachandpur Government College has many under graduate course, and it has total 22 full time courses in Arts and Science faculty. The college offers the programmes under the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) with different majors. The courses offered include B.Sc in Statistics, Physics, Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, BA in Mathematics, Education, Manipur, History, general BA and so on.
Churachandpur Government College has recognised the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) as its standardised test through which students are admitted to the institution. To assure equality and standardisation of admitting students at the cap of this course, this national level examination is important.
