The College of Pharmacy, Madurai Medical College, Madurai was established in year 2008, affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University is a constituent college by the Government of Tamil Nadu at India. Having a total land area of 22.11 acres, this institution is a specialized university for pharmacy. PCI enshrine the college and AICTE also like this college so the quality of the education is pretty high. In all, it has registered 477 students and has a faculty compliment of 39 to teach and administer various pharmacy courses. Listed here offers 5 courses at three levels of degrees in different pharmaceutical disciplines, and thus the institution nurtures pharmacists and pharmaceutical researchers.

The college of Pharmacy can pride it self in possessing such facilities that play the role of supporting the program’s students. The campus has hostels for boys and girls, making sure out-station students are well accommodated comfortably. The Central library of college has nearly 40000, books of different specializing areas, 25 International journals, and many more than 40 National journals. Having other people once again is extremely important which is why I admire the fact that our library has an open access system, as well as different study rooms for undergraduates, postgraduates and professors. The college has equally good IT facilities having an air conditioned hall for networking equipment and e-journals, e-books and online databases. In this respect, extensive sports amenities are provided in the university such as a spacious playground for soccer, hockey, basketball and track and field together with facilities for volleyball and basketball. A facility for students’ recreational activities also exists in the school in the form of indoor game courts as well as gymnastic courts.
The institution provides all pharmacy course categories as a way of meeting the different needs of the academic community. The college offers 5 full time courses which are categorized under under graduate and post graduate programmes. At the undergraduate level, the college offers the four year programme Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma) with 60 seats and two year Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma) with 120 seats. For postgraduate studies, the college provides three specialised M.Pharma programmes: The following diploma programmes are offered in the satisfaction of this requirement: Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy and pharmaceutical chemistry each takes two academic year. Pharmaceutics & Pharmacognosy has 9 seats while the course in Pharmaceutical chemistry has only 4 seats offered. The total approved intake across all courses is 202 students per year, this shows the colleges willingness to maintain a student/ teacher ratio for quality delivery of courses.
Generally the admission process at the College of Pharmacy of the Madurai Medical College is a merit based one. For the B.Pharma programme the Selection is done by the Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education, Kilpauk.
