Established in the city of Mysore, at its M.G. Road, K.R. Mohalla Campus the Alvas College of Education is a co- educational college that offers a professional course Bachelor of Education (B.ED.) only affiliated to the University of Mysore but recognised by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The college occupies a small area of 1 acres and enrolled total student strength of 200 students along with 16 dedicated faculties.

Student amenities at the college include diverse amenities for improving the learning experience of the learners. Library is one of the most important scholarly facilities which contains rich book collection of 9317 books including 1685 references section for different educational purpose. Students are able to get four educational journals and five educational CDs for beneficial use with the reader capacity of 20. It also provided hostel for male and female students to ensure that out – station students get a comfortable place to live in. For the purpose of students’ all-round development, a sports area and Gym are available in the college. It also includes an auditorium for occasions such as seminars or: scientific conferences promoting an active academic life on campus. Also, there is a health centre of the college along with first-aid facilities that pay much attention to student health. The school has a canteen on its compound, which offers a means of fulfilling peoples’ culinary requirements whether they are a staff member or a student.

DBHPS Basaveshwar College of Education offers only one course, B.Ed which is a two year full time programme. Such a targeted focus enables the institution allocate its resources and time to train quality educators in a specific area. The college has an approved enrolment capacity of one hundred students for B.Ed programme to enhance student teacher ratio and quality delivery of services.
