Department of Computer Science and Information Technology as one of the prominent science departments of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly was started in the year 1995. This Constituent College is established in Uttar Pradesh and it is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The Computer Science & Information Technology Department of the university provides B.Tech, MCA & Ph.D courses. In a nutshell, the structure and functioning of the department focus on the education needs of the students in the field of computer science and technology and to equip the students to face future technological challenges. It is a co-educational institute and students from all over the country can join the institute and complete their education. 

Department of Computer Science and Information Technology has the following facilities for the development of its courses and for the enhancement of the learning of the students. There are over 1,500 books in the library with general information and subject specific information on B.Tech in Computer Science and Information Technology for the students as they study. The college also has well equipped laboratories; enabling students to have practical experience in their line of speciality. Out of all these infrastructure attributes, it can be noted that the latest configured computer terminal was provided for the students aside from another necessary software setup so as to equip them gradually in line with current industry standards.

The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology has a total of four courses which are all full course programmes. These are B. Tech Computer Science and Information Technology, B.Tech Computer Science Information Technology lateral entry, MCA and Ph.D. Computer Science Information Technology.

The admission process of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology depends on the programme offered. For the B.Tech programme, the college selects students who completed the JEE-Main Entrance Examination and thus, the students enrolled have a strong background in mathematics and science.
