DM College of Teacher Education for Women, Imphal was set up in 1972 is one of the prominent teacher education college in Manipur, India. This is a co educational college that occupies only 1.082 acre, yet its aim is focused on the preparation of educators. NAAC accredited, NCTE approved, this college remains as an affiliated college of great reputation in the field of teacher education. Thus the total strength of the college is 371 students and the faculty crest is 29 which make it a college of focused environment. DM College of Teacher Education has offered two degree programmes with specialisations in education at the UG and PG level.
Some of the facilities available in the college include. More resources aiming at improving the learning of the institutions learners. A well stocked library has more than fifteen thousand books in the form of text and reference and is planning to subscripe at least twenty two thousand e-journals and more than fifty one thousand e-books. Technological facilities and devices are well developed; the technological resources include a computer hall with fifty plus connected terminals through LAN, laptops, LCD projectors, and other trends’ educational facilities.
Sit wise, DM College of Teacher Education has only two full time programmes in the stream of education. There are 150 seats of B.Ed course and 50 seats of M.Ed course, thus totaling 200 integrated teaching and research seats. These programs are intended to ensure that students complete core courses for professional teaching practice as well as educational administration with a combination of theoretical knowledge and practice.
The DM College of Teacher Education for admission is streamlined through competitive merit system. In case of admission to B.ED the normalised luck sum marks secures in the qualifying examination are taken into account for 20 % of weightage while the remaining 80 % weightage is taken from the marks obtained in the written test conducted for the purpose of admission. Degree wise Admission Process
B.Ed: The DM College of Teacher Education Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) program has an approved intake of 150 seats. The admission procedure to B.Ed is based on a combination of qualifying examination marks and an entrance test. Merit is used to select candidates, whereby 20% of the qualifying exam weight is added to the 80% result from the written test. The entrance test covers topics on general English and content areas of arts and science streams.
M.Ed: The Master of Education (M.Ed) program comprises 50 seats. Admission to M.Ed is entirely reliant on how well the candidates do in the entrance test conducted by the college. There will be compulsory subjects in the B.Ed course used in this test, ensuring that the applicants have some foundation in educational theory and practice.
