About Dr Ambedkar Memorial Institute of Information and Management Science, Sundergarh

DAMITS, short for Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Institute of Information and Management Science was founded in 2001 in Jagda, Rourkela, Odisha. Recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), this affiliated college provides a broad area of the field of management and IT programmes. Stretching over 5.745 acre area, DAMITS offers a suitable learning atmosphere. The student resources of the institute comprise a total student enrolment of 142 students with the teaching faculty strength of 24 members.

Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Institute of Information and Management Science pride itself in providing facilities that are most up to date to improve the coursing experience of the students. The campus houses well-equipped computer labs spanning 6000 sq ft, featuring 150 i3 4th generation computers with internet connectivity, ensuring a 1:1 student-computer ratio. Situated at the heart of Students’ affairs at DAMITS, the library has over 10000 books, the national and international journals, the e-journals and the periodicals. Students can also use the air-conditioned digital library to be connected with innovative ideas and trends all over the world. For physical fitness the college has a well equipped gymnasium available in the college campus.

DAMITS currently provides its learners with a total of four full-time courses in variety of fields of specialisation. The institute offers the following programmes at the under graduate level, BCA and BBA at the post graduate level there is MCA and MBA. The BCA programme has the highest intake as compared to other programme with total 100, while the BBA, MCA & MBA programmes have a total intake of 60 seats respectively.

Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Institute of Information and Management Sciences (DAMITS) in Sundargarh Institute and recognized by the AICTE. The Institute has been providing undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various subjects of management and information technology. The admission procedure in DAMITS is set in a pattern based on which program is chosen. Usually, the admission cycle begins in the months before the academic year starting around August to September. For undergraduate programs like BCA, BBA, etc., the institute holds direct admissions at the college level. Postgraduate programs like MBA, MCA, etc. involve direct national-level entrance exams for admissions. For admission to the MBA program, scores are accepted from different entrance exams at the national level such as CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, and OJEE. 

An array of accepted exams for MBA admissions gives candidates opportunities for admission on different fronts. There are generally two streams for admission into MCA: either qualify or be liable for consideration through OJEE (Odisha Joint Entrance Examination) scores. In other words, it is mandatory to qualify in OJEE for any student to be admissible into the MCA program at DAMITS. Undergraduate basic eligibility would normally consider 10+2 from a recognized board to be an accepted qualification, while postgraduate candidates should possess a bachelor's degree concerning that particular discipline from a recognized university.

Application Process

The application process at DAMITS varies according to the program:

For BCA and BBA programs:

  1. Visit the official DAMITS website 
  2. The admissions section should be visited to download the application form for the desired program.
  3. Fill up the application form with accurate personal and academic details.
  4. Attach all necessary documents required with the admission application, including mark sheets, certificates, etc., of 10+2, as applicable.
  5. Submit the application form to the institute's admission office along with the admission application fee.
  6. Wait for processing by the institute to declare the selection list.

For MBA program:

  1. Appear in any of the accepted entrance tests (CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT/ATMA/OJEE).
  2. Once you have the score, visit the DAMITS website and check for the MBA application process.
  3. Fill out the MBA application form, providing your entrance exam scores and other required details.
  4. Submit the application form along with necessary documents and the application fee.
  5. If shortlisted, you may be called for additional rounds like group discussion and personal interview.
  6. Final selection will be based on your overall performance in the entrance exam and subsequent rounds.

For MCA program:

  1. Register and appear for the OJEE exam.
  2. After receiving your OJEE score, check the DAMITS website for the MCA application process.
  3. Fill out the MCA application form with your OJEE score and other required information.
  4. Submit the application along with all necessary documents and the prescribed fee.
  5. Wait for the institute to process applications and announce the selection list based on OJEE performance and other criteria.

Admission Process

BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications): The BCA program at DAMITS has a total intake of 100 seats. The admission to this program is by means of direct admission by the college. Candidates who have completed their 10+2 with the required subjects apply. The selection is probably done on the basis of academic merit and other criteria set up by the institute.

BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration): BBA programme offered at DAMITS finds a total intake of 60 seats. Like BCA, BBA admissions are conducted directly by the institute. Eligible candidates who have completed their 10+2 can apply. The selection process may include the consideration of academic performance and other parameters by the college.

MBA (Master of Business Administration): There is an intake of 60 seats for the MBA program in DAMITS. The MBA admission process is deemed to be more competitive as it follows the national level entrance. The candidates are asked to apply based on the scores of CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, or OJEE. The institute would take into account the scores from the entrance test, their academic background, and may also conduct other rounds like group discussions or personal interviews for the ultimate selection.

MCA (Master of Computer Applications): The MCA program at DAMITS has a total of 60 seats. The admission to MCA is on the basis of OJEE (Odisha Joint Entrance Examination) in the first place. The candidate must appear and qualify in OJEE to be eligible for admission. The selection will be made on the basis of the OJEE score and other parameters prescribed by the Institute.
