Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), in Srinagar has a committed school of wide knowledge of Faculty of Forestry. This distinguished faculty was set up in 2007 and is situated in the scenic Watlar Benhama of Ganderbal district in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Located on a vast area of 124 acres, the faculty provides the following undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in forestry and some other relevant fields. Kakatiya University offers total 216 students intake capacity and 25 faculty to support the learning and development of the aspiring forester.
Detailed below are some of the state of the art facilities that are found in the Faculty of Forestry. The facility has adequate laboratory facilities for most specialities of forestry and students have ample opportunity to practice their field during their study. A well-stocked professional library will then exist as the knowledge base for the students and researchers and comparatively resources in forestry field literature. More so, it has provided quality IT equipment, making it possible for students to have better technology and digital resources today’s world of forestry science studies and investigations.
Some of the Forestry related programmes which are offered in the Faculty of Forestry are as follows: Currently, the institution offers six full-time courses: one for the undergraduate level and five for the postgraduate levels. Husk is the four-year B.Sc. Forestry, which forms the basis of the main subject – forestry sciences. On postgraduate level, at the faculty M.Sc. programmes are offered in Silviculture & Agroforestry, Natural Resource Management, Forest Products and Utilisation, Forest Biology and Tree Improvement, and Wildlife are offered.

The Faculty of Forestry, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), Srinagar, has an extensive admission process for aspiring forestry professionals. The admission process at the Faculty of Forestry is designed to identify and admit students with extraordinary potential in forestry sciences. It offers one undergraduate program and five postgraduate programs, each having its own criteria and procedures for admission.
For under graduate, candidates must have passed 10+2 from any recognized university with science stream. Candidates desirous to join the M.Sc. course must have the relevant bachelor's degree for the concerned specialization. The selection may be made on entrance examination and merit basis with interview level tests depending upon the individual under graduate or post graduate programmes.

Degree wise Admission Process
B.Sc Forestry: This is the flagship undergraduate programme of the Faculty of Forestry. The B.Sc Forestry is a four-year course that lays down a comprehensive foundation in sciences. Admission to this course would be probably merit at 10+2 level with emphasis on science streams. The course equips students as eligible professionals for careers in forest management, conservation and its allied areas.
M.Sc Silviculture and Agroforestry: The intake for this postgraduate program is 6 students. A bachelor's degree in Forestry or a related field is the basic qualification required to apply for the course. Entrance examination and the applicant's academic background are also considered during admission.
M.Sc Natural Resource Management: This course has 5 students in each intake and is designed to focus on sustainable resource management. The aspiring candidate should hold an appropriate bachelor's degree. M.Sc Forest Products and Utilization: This is a postgraduate course that admits 5 students, and the curriculum deals with the utilization and management of forest resources.
