Good News Welfare Society's Arts and Commerce First Grade College affiliated to the Kuvempu University, Shankaraghatta was established in the year 1986 at Kalaghatgi, Dharwad District of Karnataka State. A reputed affiliated college approved by NAAC this college provides arts and commerce stream in quality manner. Stretched over an area of 8 acres, the institution has in total 379 in strength of students and 10 in strength of faculty. 

Good News Welfare Society's Arts and Commerce First Grade College provides various facilities to improve the results of studying process and personal growth of the students. The library has stacks of books in it, and books on all sorts of topics can be found here; encyclopedias being one of them. It is a member of more than 50 journals, periodicals, magazines, English and Kannada dailies. In addition to the internet and photocopying facilities, the computerised library service has adequate accommodation to seat more than hundred students in the well furnished reading hall. For students’ accommodation the college offers well furnished hostels for boys and girls,’’ The Brothers of St. Gabriel are in charge of the boys hostel while the Montfort Sisters of Wisdom are in charge of the girls hostel. These hostels provide counselling services, sports place and conducts seminars and spiritual talks etc.
