Government College, Anantapur (GCA) is a prestigious autonomous college in Andhra Pradesh providing a diverse group of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The institution adheres to the policy of merit-based admissions to provide an equitable and competitive process for its diverse set of academic programs.
The admission procedure of GCA normally starts in the months preceding the beginning of the academic year, which is between August-September. The college lays the most importance on marks in academic studies from qualifying tests for admission into the majority of the courses. For undergraduate programmes, the college considers the marks scored in the 10+2 or an equivalent examination, depending on the subject of choice as per the intended programme.
Eligibility requirements differ with courses but are typically a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam. For science streams, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics must have been studied at 10+2 level. Arts and Commerce streams may have particular subject requirements as per the selected course.

Degree wise Admission Process
B.Sc: 20 specializations for B.Sc are provided by GCA. Admission is done on the basis of 10+2 marks in the concerned subjects. Popular combinations are Mathematics-Physics-Chemistry, Botany-Zoology-Chemistry, and new combinations such as Geology-Physics-Computer Science. General eligibility is usually 50% in 10+2 with PCM subjects.
BA: The college provides 7 BA specializations. Admission is based on marks in 10+2, with priority given to subjects related to the chosen specialization. Courses are Economics-History-Political Science, Advanced Telugu-History-Political Science, and specialized courses such as Journalism-History-Public Administration.
B.Com: Four B.Com specializations are provided, i.e., general B.Com, B.Com Computer Applications, B.Com Digital Marketing, and B.Com Taxation. Admission is based on marks in 10+2, with priority given to students with commerce backgrounds.
M.Sc: GCA runs 8 M.Sc courses i.e. Computer Science, Mathematics, Geology, Chemistry, Physics, Statistics, Botany, and Zoology. Admission is normally based on marks scored in the respective bachelor's degree. Some departments conduct additional tests or interviews.
M.Com: The college offers an M.Com course. Admission is based on marks scored in B.Com or equivalent degree with possible consideration of marks scored at entrance exam or interviews.
MA: GCA offers an MA in Political Science. Admission through marks secured at the concerned bachelor's degree, most likely BA with Political Science as major subject.
The faculty are following traditional teaching methods. They are very good, supportive and encouraging. I had completed my graduation in Commerce(Computer applications). I received enough support from my faculty.
