Government College of Pharmacy, Amravati Admission Process

Government College of Pharmacy, Amravati (GCOPA), is an acclaimed pharmacy college. The admission procedure of GCOPA is aimed to select the best able candidates among those wishing to pursue Bachelor in Pharmacy (B.Pharm), Masters in Pharmacy (M.Pharm), Doctor in Pharmacy (Pharm.D), and Ph.D. programs in Pharmacy. Usually, the admission round is held in an academic calendar year. Applications usually open in the preceding months. For admission to the undergraduate level, GCOPA relies chiefly on scores obtained in the Maharashtra Common Arena of Entrance Test (MHT CET). The process of filling in MHT CET applications for the coming year starts on December 29 and closes on February 14. The test is held in an online mode.

For admission into the postgraduate programs, it is mainly dependent on GPAT score. The admission for Ph.D. is through a different procedure as per qualifying examination and interview. Eligibility criteria vary program-wise. For B.Pharm., the candidate must have passed higher secondary or school certificate (10+2) examinations with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/ Mathematics as subjects. Applicants for M.Pharm. must be graduates with a B.Pharm. Degree for Pharm D. applicants should have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics.

The Application Process

The application process will vary for each course offered at GCOPA:

For B.Pharm:

  1. Register and appear for MHT CET.
  2. Apply through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) of DTE, Maharashtra.
  3. Fill out the online application form and upload relevant documents.
  4. Pay the application fee.
  5. Wait for the merit list, if your name comes in the merit list, attend counseling.
  6. Complete admission formalities at GCOPA if allotted a seat.

For M.Pharm:

  1. GPAT examination and valid scores.
  2. Apply directly at GCOPA or through Central admission as applicable.
  3. Submit the application form with GPAT score and supporting documents.
  4. Attend the interview/counseling if shortlisted.
  5. Complete admission formalities if chosen.

For Pharm.D.:

  1. Appear for MHT CET.
  2. Apply to GCOPA with valid MHT CET scores.
  3. Fill up the application form and attach required documents.
  4. Attend counseling if shortlisted.
  5. Complete admission if selected.

For Ph.D. in Pharmacy:

  1. Direct application to GCOPA for the Ph.D. program.
  2. Submission of the application form together with academic credentials and research proposal.
  3. Attendance to the qualifying examination held by the college.
  4. Interview.
  5. Admission if selected.

Degree-wise Admission Procedure

B.Pharm: Admission to the B.Pharm program at GCOPA is based on the merit of the candidate in MHT CET. The admission process is through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) run by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra. GCOPA has an intake of 60 seats approved for B.Pharm.

M.Pharm: GCOPA offers M.Pharm in two specializations: Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry & Quality Assurance. Admissions for these programs are based on valid GPAT scores, where academic merit in the qualifying degree might also be considered.

Pharm.D: MHT CET scores are used in admitting the students to the Doctor of Pharmacy program at GCOPA. This 6-year program is intended for budding clinical pharmacists and other closely-related fields.

Ph.D. in Pharmacy: Doctoral program admission is by the qualifying exam and interview conducted by the college. The process of selection is as notified and directed by Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University (SGBAU).

Documents that will generally be required include:

  • 10th & 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • Under graduation mark sheets and degree certificate (for PG and Ph.D. applicants)
  • Entrance exam scorecard (MHT CET/GPAT)
  • Valid ID proof
  • Passport-sized photographs
  • Caste and Income certificates if applicable
  • Migration Certificate if applicable.

Teaching staff is extremely good, lectures takes place regularly beside most of the topics are covered in classrooms and a few left on the student. Mentors are alloted to every student who help them throughout their journey in the college.

Governmebt college Amravati also has good faculty members with all the facilty and there placement by more than 30 companies and packages between 4lakhs - 5 lakhs annually.

Government College of Pharmacy, Amravati was established in 1996. The college provides UG, PG and Doctorate Courses in Pharmacy such as B. Pharm.,M.Pharm., Pharm.D. and Ph.D. Course. Doctor of pharmacy or Pharm.D is a six-year course for doctorate level students. During the course duration candidates have five year of academic study and 1 year of internship. Candidates those who have completed their D.Pharma from a recognized University with a minimum of 50% of marks in it are eligible for the direct admission in the 2nd year of the B.Pharma course through lateral entry. Seats are allotted to deserving candidates on the basis of merit marks or marks scored by them in Diploma in Pharmacy course.
