The Government College of Teacher Education, Dharamshala was set up in 1956 to produce the future educators and guardians of education. Located at Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, India, this co-educational college has been providing the right environment for nurturing teachers to be, for more than six decades. Approved from the National Council for Teacher Education(NCTE) & accredited from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the college illuminates the region as a premier institution for teacher education. Situated over a large area of 4.60 acres, this institution currently has a strength of 465 students and has a staff of 20 committed faculties. The college has an appropriate B.Ed programme which throws light of its focus towards generating skilled and knowledgeable teachers for the 21st century.

As it is always the case with any college, their main core value is the ability to offer the students world class facilities. It has a large library that is being automated at the moment. Currently the institute has boasted having a collection of more than 17,000 books and will soon be made efficient with filtering technology through the integration of the new software called SOUL 2.0. Government College of Teacher Education also has an Information and Technology Lab consisting 25 computer sets and 6 projectors to educate students of modern education facilities. Internet connection in the entire compound also enhances convenient use of the devices and other related resources. For the learners interested in the area of physical exercise, the college provides sport tools and a gym so that the student can develop in every aspect.

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is a two-year full-time undergraduate course approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and offered by Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.

Eligibility Criteria -
Candidates with at least fifty percent marks either in the Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Humanity, Bachelor's in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent are eligible for admission to the program.
