Government First Grade College for Women, Hunsur, was started in the year 2007 is a first of its kind focused exclusively on women’s education in the Karnataka state. This affiliated college is situated in Hunsur, Mysore district, and the college occupies 1.7 acres of land, They provide 10 major Under Graduate courses in 4 different stream. It has a strength of 1,353 students and 21 faculty members and is specially designed exclusively for female students only. NAAC accredited institution, the college strives to provide quality education both in the classroom and other all round student activities.
It has many techniques aimed at improving the quality of educational processing in the learning institution notably the college. Part and parcel of any institution is the library which boasts of being stocked with books with a varieties of 17,729. Sports and physical fitness; the college has various games for those that love the outdoors They include volleyball, throw ball and badminton. However, the playground available on the college campus does lack adequate space and the college uses the Hunsur Taluk Sports Stadium for such purpose. The institution also realizes the of technology use in today’s learning environment thus avails a computer for practical use with 18 computers and internet connection. Besides, to enhance socialization and encourage students’ activities the college includes a multifunctional hall which has a seating capacity of up to one hundred and fifty. Another feature is Wireless Fid connection, departmental laboratories, stationery/photocopying, convenience store, car parking area for different types of vehicles, etc.
With regard of the academic programs offered to the students, Government First Grade College for Women, Hunsur offers full time undergraduate courses in every stream. The college delivers 10 courses in the field of Arts Commerce and Science. Some of them are B.Com, B.B.A, and different combinations of B.A like as History, Political Science, Geography etc. The program B.Sc in Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science is offered to those students who want to be associated with the sciences.
