Government Law College, Ajmer Admission Process

Government Law College, Ajmer (GLC Ajmer), and it is that well-known and reputed institution providing quality legal education. This college has been recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and admits students through a systematic, equitable, and clear admission procedure by which, being admitted to the various programs in law, talented candidates are selected. Merit is an important component for admission to GLC Ajmer; each of the candidates is required to qualify in certain examinations.

Usually, the admission procedure of the college starts during the months of August and September for the academic session. Dates differ from year to year; prospective students are encouraged to check the official college website for updates on application deadlines and admission schedules or come to visit the admission department. Admission into various courses, particularly the LLB program, is primarily dependent on the qualifying tests. 

Process of Application

1. Admissions Announced: All the programs, according to the college, start from August or the opening of the academic year, the start of announcements regarding all different courses to be admitted.

2. Application Form: Candidates fill out online forms available from the college or download online from its website.

3. Document Submission: Required documents to be submitted by applicants may contain:

  • Completed application form
  • Passport size photographs
  • Mark sheets of qualifying examinations (10th, 12th, and graduation as applicable)
  • Category certificate(s) (if applying under any reserved category)
  • Any other relevant Certificates/documents as specified from time to time by the college.

4. Entrance Test: For program initiated along with entrance examination candidates have to appear for entrance examination on the prescribed date.

5. Merit List Preparation: Based on the performance of candidates in their qualifying examination or entrance examination as applicable to each program, the merit list will be prepared by the university.

6. Counselling and Admission: Shortlisted candidates may be called for counselling, where they would be able to select the preferred course, if any, and complete all admission procedures.

7. Payment of Fees: Verified candidates will have to deposit all the fees in the prescribed manner to confirm their admission.

8. Document Verification: The college would thoroughly conduct a verification of all submitted documents so as to ascertain authenticity about the information fed by the candidates.

Admission Process by Degree

LLB: This is the highest qualification offered by GLC Ajmer, i.e. the Bachelor of Laws course, which is three years in duration, and has an approved capacity of 240 students to be admitted. Entry into this program is solely based on the merit performance of the candidate in qualifying examinations. No details have been mentioned about the entrance examination or cut-off marks, but it is presumed that the candidates are expected to be academically sound.

PGD Labour Laws: This is one of the diplomas offered at GLC Ajmer, that is, Postgraduate Diploma in Labour Laws, and the admission eligibility in this faculty apparently might go to candidates with at least a bachelor's degree in law or a related field. In other words, regarding the selection process, probably a good part of it depended on the academic record of candidates during their undergraduate studies.

PGD in Criminology: Another specialized Postgraduate Diploma offered by the college is in Criminology. Admission to this program requires the relevant bachelor's degree. The selection should be based on an applicant's previous academic performance and interest in criminology.

LLM Self Finance: The college offers a 2-year LLM Self Finance program for the advanced legal education aspirants. The admission to the course is merit-based, whereby students are selected based on their percentage in qualifying exams. This means the better the score in LLB or equivalent degree, the probability of getting into the program increases.

Ph.D. Law: GLC Ajmer also has a PhD in Law for those scholars intending to pursue a doctoral study, which is of 6 years. It has not been specified as to what the exact admission criteria are, but it is assumed that applicants would need to be armed with a master's degree in law and might go through an entrance test and/or interview process.
