Doctor of Medicine in Microbiology is three years full-time course. Affiliated to Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University, Bhavnagar and approved by National Medical Commission.

Department was established in 1995 in an old building in sir takhtsinhji hospital campus with annual intake capacity of 50 students. In March 2000 department was shifted to newly construct spacious college building near state transport depot. Department is located on the fourth floor and has infrastructure adequate to cater to the need of 150 admissions per year. In the academic year, 2006-07 with permission of medical council of India intake capacity is raised to 100 students per year. Department also participates in teaching laboratory methods in Microbiology to students of medical laboratory technicians training course run by the directorate of medical education and research, govt. of gujarat for in service and outside candidates over and above undergraduate course leading to m.b.b.s. degree Department wishes to start postgraduate (m. d.) course in the subject of Microbiology and expect inspection from the medical council of India in October 2006 Govt. of Gujarat has decided to apply to the central government to raise undergraduate admission capacity to 150 from the academic year 2007-08.

Eligibility Criteria

1. A candidate shall be an Indian Citizen: Provided that a candidate who desires admission on Non-Resident Indian seats shall be a Non-Resident Indian, or a child or ward of the Non-Resident Indian and completed his MBBS/BDS or equivalent course from medical institution within or outside India and qualify in NEET-PG as per the criteria laid down by the competent authority.

2. The candidate must have completed the recognized MBBS or BDS course from University established under any law of Government of Gujarat and situated in the State of Gujarat and completed a compulsory rotating internship on or before 3l't March of the academic year of admission.

3. A candidate shall have to appear in NEET-PG Entrance Examination conducted. for the year for which admission is being held in the respective year for admission to Post-graduate Medical Courses and qualify in NEET-PG as per criteria laid down by the competent authority.

4. A candidate who has secured admission under these rules in any year shall not be eligible for further admission to any course until the period within which he might have completed the course in which he has secured admission.

Admission Details

The admission shall be on the basis of NEET PG ranking.
