Jamalpur Shekhon in Fatehabad is a home for the Government Polytechnic, a well-known technical institute that has been running. The institute has achieved great popularity for developing a few diploma courses in engineering and technology, keeping the major stress on maintaining quality technical education. All diploma engineering courses in the institute comprise an uncomplicated admission process. Admissions are based essentially on merits of the Secondary School Examination and any other qualifying examinations. 2. Application Form: Candidates shall fill in the application form, which is made available on the website of the institute or can be obtained at the Admission Office. 

3. Document Submission: Apart from the completed application form, the candidate must submit necessary supplementary documents which may include:

• Character certificate
• Domicile certificate (in case of state quota seats)
• Category certificate (if applicable)
• Passport-size photographs

4. Application Fee: Candidates must pay an application fee. The admission notification will specify the amount and payment methods.

5. Preparation of Merit List: The institute will prepare a merit list basis qualification examination merit.

6. Counseling: Candidates shortlisted might be called in for counseling, and then, on merit rank and availability of seats, should choose the course.

7. Admission Confirmation: A candidate will have to confirm his/her admission by paying the stipulated fee and submitting the original documents, meant for verification, after allotment of seat.

Degree wise Admission Process

Diploma Programs: The Government Polytechnic, Jamalpur Shekhon runs five full-time diploma courses for a duration of three years. The admission process is same for these programs.

1. Civil Engineering: This course has 60 intakes with admission through merit as per qualifying examination.
2. Electrical Engineering: 60 in total seats available for candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria and admission, again, through merit based on Secondary School Examination or its equivalent.
3. Mechanical Engineering: This course enrolls 60 students, similarly selected on the principle of merit.
4. Computer Engineering: This diploma has 60 students, again admitted purely on academic merit.
5. Medical Laboratory Technology: Sixty seats are allocated for this program, the entry to which is secured by merit as per qualifying examination.

Of note here is that the total fee for the diploma courses is Rs. 19,100 which makes technical education affordable by a large mass of students.
