The Institute of Nursing Sciences, Miraj – GPMT, was set up in the year 2005 and is one of the most prominent nursing education organisations situated in Sangli, Maharashtra. This is a co-educational affiliated college through which the nursing council approves the Indian Nursing Council (INC). Currently, the institute has a total of 52 students, and the faculty members are as many as eight people, so the educational process is rather individual. GPMT's Institute of Nursing Sciences offers two full-time degree programmes: GNM which stands for General Nursing and Midwifery, together with Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing. Hence, the aim of establishing a nursing college is to offer quality education in the healthcare profession to the people.
The Institute of Nursing Sciences also has a host of facilities intended to support a student’s learning process. It is in fact the nerve of the college and boasts of having 3500 nursing books, 12 international journals and 5 newspapers in Marathi and English. It also provides Wireless Fidelity connectivity, and sitting and standing areas with light and air provision. It boasts a stock functional laboratory, a basic nursing laboratory, a nutritional laboratory, a communal/community health nursing laboratory, and a maternal and childhood health nursing laboratory. These facilities are equipped with other necessities, dummies, manikins, and other tools in order to ensure effective training exercises for the students.
GPMT's Institute of Nursing Sciences offers two full-time nursing courses: the 4-year General Nursing and Midwifery and the 2-year Post Basic B.Sc Nursing. Both programmes include the necessary theoretical background and practical skills to perform a nurse’s profession successfully.
