Guru Gobind Singh College of Education, Hoshiarpur, is a leading teacher education college situated in Beghpur Kamlooh Mukerian, Punjab and was established in the year 2004. This college which is co-educational is affiliated with the Panjab University, Chandigarh and is approved by the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE) and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Built over 5 acre land, this college has an affiliated student strength of 500 and is staffed with 21 faculty members. It has two degree programmes in education for learners who intend to become teachers in schools with an emphasis on preparing quality teachers.

Guru Gobind Singh College of Education also boasts of having some facilities to meet the needs of the students in their academics and person . The facility is a library for 100-200 students with access to books, magazines, and scientific journals and print making services and Internet access. The sports enthusiasts enjoy well managed indoor and outdoor play fields. IT facilities have provision of LAN and Wi-Fi 24/7; the college possesses computer laboratory, that is air-conditioned, to provide students exposure to the fast emerging technologies. Also, there are subject-based resource centres in the campus, Science Resource Centre, Psychology Resource Centre, Educational Technology Resource & Language Learning Resource, Art & Craft Resource Centre, Mathematics Resource, and Social Science Resource Centre involving students in hands on experiences.

Guru Gobind Singh College of Education offers two full-time courses, a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and a Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed.) The B.Ed programme has an approved intakes for 100 students and 50 students for the D.El.Ed programme. Both courses are offered to prepare students for teaching profession making sure that they secure a job with all necessary knowledge.

Guru Gobind Singh College of Education, Hoshiarpur and today it is one of the premier teacher education institutions which is affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh. Application Process

The application process for both B.Ed and D.El.Ed programs at Guru Gobind Singh College of Education has been defined as simple and clear cut. Here is the process step by step to make the application possible:

1. Notification: The notice about admission is released on the official website of the college  and in local newspapers by the college according to the commencement of the application process.

2. Application Form: Candidates are required to obtain and fill out the application form. The form may be available both online on the college website and offline at the college campus.

3. Document Submission. Along with the application form, the candidate should submit the following documents:

  • Passport size photographs
  • Mark sheets of qualifying examinations (10th, 12th, and Graduation for B.Ed; 10th and 12th for D.El.Ed)
  • Character certificate from the institution last attended
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Any other relevant certificates as specified by the college

4. Application Fee: Applicants must pay the application fee, which can usually be done online or via demand drafts, as indicated by the college.

5. Submission: Completed application forms with all papers and the application fee receipt should be submitted at the college admission office before the last date.

6. Merit List: The college will prepare and publish merit lists of specific requirements selected candidates based on the centralized admission process and merit criteria.

Admission Process Degree wise

B.Ed (Bachelor of Education): At Guru Gobind Singh College of Education, B.Ed follows a centralized admission policy. This course is a complete full-time one for two years and aims to get graduates trained as the most effective teachers at the secondary and senior secondary levels. The merit-based admission process sets aside the adopted criteria to select the best candidates for the course. A potential student must have graduated in any discipline from any university to be eligible for the B.Ed program, otherwise no further admission will be granted.

D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education): Even the D.El.Ed admission method is centralized and merit based. This two-year diploma course is for preparing teachers at the elementary level. Of this 50 student intake capacity, the college has approved 50 to this program. Candidates may apply for a D.El.Ed course after completing their 10+2 or equivalent examination via a recognized board.
