The Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Yamunanagar (IHM Yamunanagar) has trained, it provides a thorough admission procedure for those wishing to start their careers in the hospitality profession. As an autonomous institution, IHM Yamunanagar provides courses specific to hotel management and culinary arts. The admission procedure selects candidates for the three main programs run through IHM Yamunanagar: B.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration, Diploma in Food Production, and Diploma in Bakery and Confectionery.

For the B.Sc program, admission is based on the National Council for Hotel Management Joint Entrance Examination (NCHM JEE). This national-level exam occurs once a year for the selection of candidates into the various hotel management institutes within India. The NCHM JEE application process usually starts in mid-December and goes on until mid-February of the next year.

The diploma programs have a different admission procedure. For both the Diploma in Food Production and the Diploma in Bakery and Confectionery, admissions are open depending on eligibility on the date of counseling. These diploma programs, unlike the B.Sc program which is based on the NCHM JEE, are run on a first-come-first-served basis; therefore, early application and actual eligibility are factors to consider for getting a seat.

Application Process

The application methods change according to the program:

For B.Sc Hospitality and Hotel Administration:

1. NCHM JEE should be registered for, approximately mid-December is the normal time frame.
2. Fill in the online application form on the NCHM JEE website.
3. Application fee payment.
4. NCHM JEE exam is taken, typically in April-May.
5. Confirm results and wait until the counseling process is initiated.
6. If selected, you will then be called for counseling at IHM Yamunanagar, along with necessary documents.
7. Complete the admission process by paying the fees.

For Diploma Programs (Food Production and Bakery & Confectionery):

1. Look into the website of IHM Yamunanagar, where announcements for applications are made.
2. Get the application form and complete it (online or offline as stated).
3. Submit the completed application form along with requisite documents.
4. An application fee was paid.
5. Counseling shall take place on a given day.

Program-wise Admission Process

B.Sc Hospitality and Hotel Administration: IHM Yamunanagar's flagship program is of 100 seats. Admission into this program is based on the performance of the candidate available in the NCHM JEE. After qualifying for the entrance exam, the selection will go for counseling.

Diploma in Food Production: The program has 40 seats and different criteria with regard to admission. Candidates are admitted on the basis of eligibility on the date of counseling and admitted on the basis of first-come, first-served. 

Diploma in Bakery and Confectionery: This diploma program also admits candidates for 40 seats and follows similar admission processes as Food Production. The programs follow first-come, first-served for admission concerning eligibility based on the date of counseling.
