About Law Centre-I, University of Delhi, Delhi

Law Centre-I is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Delhi, situated at the centre of Delhi, which was founded in 1924. This BCI approved institution has been fine tuning legal brains for nearly one hundred years now since it was established. Located in Chhatra Marg University Enclave Delhi, the college caters for both the male and female students; permitting co education. By employing 49 specialised academics, Law Centre-I ensures students achieve the necessary skills of being a lawyer.

Law Centre-I has put in place numerous facilities in an effort to complement the education process of the learners. Among these amenities, there is a library that has a large stock of books which is 45579 copies with large potential in the sphere of legal education. To cater with the practical aspects, the college has established a Moot Court complex so that the students practice advocacy in a court like setting.  Also, the institution is proud to host an active Alumni Association which links the students’ past and the present by creating a platform through which they can both share experience and career opportunities.

Currently, Law Centre-I has a specialised academic programme with the LLB programme being its main course offering. This is a full time course that takes three years and has a healthy intake capacity of 480 students thus being one of the largest laws schools in India. The LLB programme, which is the focus of the study is designed to equip the students with a sound knowledge of legal systems in order to prepare them for thee challenges in the legal profession. 

The admission process to Law Centre-I is therefore very competitive this being attributed to the nature of the institution being prestigious.

Law Centre-I, University of Delhi, Delhi Admission

Law Centre-I is one of the most distinguished law schools under-graduate-wise, with a tough admission process to get into it.  Such high reputation with a limited number of seats at the institution makes the admission process quite competitive. Admission is based on the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate Programs (CUET UG), a national-level entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). According to the announcement, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) for the following academic year will be held between May 15 and May 24, 2025. The examination is done in online mode. 

Students are advised to look into the official CUET website and that of Law Centre - I for the most current information regarding the application and admission deadline. However, it is expected for students to be cleared for entrance to the LLB course at Law Centre- I after completion of a recognized board's 10+2 or corresponding higher secondary education. Most of the eligibility conditions are specified in the official admission notification and may entail certain subject requirements associated with minimum percentage criteria and others.

Admission Process

1. CUET UG Registration: Candidates have to register for the entrance examination, CUET UG, through the CUET official website. In all likelihood, CUET UG 2025 will commence early in 2025.

2. CUET UG Examination: On the specified date, candidates need to appear for the CUET UG examination, which is going to be conducted online from May 15, 2025 to May 24, 2025.

3. Declaration of Results: Candidates have to wait until the CUET UG results are declared to check if they qualify for admission into Law Center-I.

4. Application to University of Delhi: In the event of qualifying, apply to University of Delhi for admission to Law Centre-I, as per this process it usually fills out an online application form on the admission portal of University.

5. Document Submission: Upload all relevant documents, which include:

  • CUET UG score card
  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets
  • Category certificates (if applicable)
  • Other certificates as specified by the university

6. Merit List: Depending on CUET UG scores and the additional criteria indicated in admission guidelines, the university will prepare a merit list.

7. Counselling and Allotment of Seat: In this step, the selected candidates will participate in the counseling process; which will include document verification and seat allotment.

8. Payment of Fees: The finality about admission is done when a candidate accepts the offer by paying the requisite fees within the time limit.

9. Final Admission: Report at Law Centre-I for final admission formalities followed by the commencement of the classes.

Degree wise Admission Process

LLB: The three-year full-time LLB programme at Law Centre-I has an intake of 480 students. Based on performance in the CUET UG, novices would be outfitted with thorough knowledge of legal systems while readying them for the bumpy road ahead in the legal profession.

Eligibility criteria toward admission to the LLB programme include:

  1. Completion of 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board
  2. Qualification in the CUET UG examination
  3. Any additional criteria as may be stipulated by the University of Delhi or Law Centre-I

Merit should be the sole criteria for admission to be granted to eligible candidates qualifying in the CUET UG , depending on the seats available.

My college infrastructure is quite good. The classrooms are spacious and well lighted. The library is huge with wide varieties of books, one can sit comfortably there for hours. There is wifi available too.

Admission process in Law Center-1 in Delhi University is done based on an entrance exam known as "DU LLB Entrance Exam". It is conducted by National Test Agency. The registration for the exam will start in the month of March. Candidates should apply online for admission process. Also note that the candidate must complete their graduation with minimum of 45-50% marks.
