Maharshi Vashishtha Autonomous State Medical College, Basti or Government Medical College (GMC) Basti is an independent government institution set up by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in India for the well genuine motive of providing quality education in the stream of Medical Science. The institute admits students to a 5.5-year-long MBBS course and has a very rigorous admission process for it.

GMC Basti carries the admission mechanism that runs through the channel of the National eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), which is organized on an all-India basis by the National Testing Agency (NTA). NEET is an on-all-india level entrance exam conducted as a single channel to all medical colleges in India. Degree wise Admission Process

MBBS: The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery is the flagship program for which Maharshi Vashishtha Autonomous State Medical College, Basti, offers admission. The admission procedure for the program is as follows:

• Eligibility: The candidate must have completed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects, and must have secured at least 50% marks in these subjects taken together (40% in these subjects for SC/ST/OBC candidates).

• Age Limit: Age limit for admission is that the candidate is of 17 years at the end of the year (31 Dec) 

• NEET Qualification: Candidates must qualify in the NEET-UG examination conducted by the NTA and obtain a rank within cutoff prescribed by GMC Basti.

• Counseling: Qualified candidates must attend state-level counseling as conducted by DGME, Uttar Pradesh (85% seats) or the all-India counseling as conducted by the MCC (for 15% seats).
