The National School of Drama (NSD), was established in 1959, is one of the most prestigious institution and is situated In New Delhi, India. This well known drama theater, also known as NSD Delhi is committed to develop talent field of dramatic arts. Located at Bahawalpur House on Bhagwandas Road, NSD as an autonomous organisation is fully funded by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The school accepts a limited number of students each year, enroling only 20 students for any given academic year with the close mentoring and strict training of 11 member faculty.
National School of Drama Delhi have various facilities that they have to enjoy. School has separate hostels for boys and girls, on sharing basis in terms of room or in terms of dormitory. The monthly hostel rent is Rs. 110 per seat; the electricity and water charges are flexible. Many resources, including more than 26 665 books, 4000 volumes of periodicals and other documents, connected with theatre and allied arts are stored in the school library. For performances, NSD offers three auditoriums: Abhimanyu: 350 seats, Sammukh: 96 seats, Bahumukh: 75-100 seats where a student can perform his/her talents. There is also, the campus contains a canteen, and the faculty and/or family members’ temporary accommodation facilities for the visiting members of the faculty.
The core of NSD’s Academic programme is the Diploma in Dramatic Arts which forms the base of the institution’s programmes. This programme offered at the college prepares the students for professional practice and duration of the course is three years, offering full time programme.
