Nethaji Institute of Nursing Sciences, Mangalore was started in the year 2004 and is one of the leading institute offering nursing education in the state of Karnataka. As a co-educational institute of the Indian Nursing Council (INC), it delivers various course in nursing through under graduate and post graduate studies. Located at Mangalore in a 5 acre area, the institute provides total enrolment for its students and faculty members as 114 : 22 respectively. Established in 2003, the Institute offers 8 courses across three degree levels of nursing namely: Medical /Surgical, Mental Health, Obstetrics & Gynaecological and Community health Nursing.

It makes students’ concessions in academic and personal needs and necessities for the Student Institute facilities provided to them. This college also houses dormitories for boys, girls and each dormitory is headed by an articulate warden to ensure discipline prevails hence providing a conducive environment for the students to study. These hostels provide dormitory facility with some facilities like study table, chairs, dining hall, and television & indoor games along with many others. Traffic between campuses and other relevant places for commuting students is provided by college buses as part of transport facilities.

An 8 full courses offered at the institute which include the undergraduate as well as the postgraduate courses. The course offered at the undergraduate level include a four-year B.Sc Nursing, intake of 50 students and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing, intake of 30 students. For those students who want to get more specialized there are several 2 year M.Sc Nursing courses in the institute in specialized areas of Medical Surgical Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing and Community Health Nursing.

The institute is affiliated with INC and offers several undergraduate and postgraduate nursing courses. The admission process at Nethaji Institute of Nursing Sciences is designed to select fit and deserving students for its nursing courses. With an offer of programs in undergraduate and postgraduate levels that address the various specializations in nursing, the academic year takes place around August-September, thus the admission process would start a few months earlier.

Eligibility criteria for admission vary with the program. For undergraduate programs like B.Sc Nursing and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing, a candidate must have passed 10+2 with relevant subjects. For postgraduate programs like M.Sc Nursing in various specializations, a bachelor's degree in nursing is required in general.

Application Process

1. Advertisement: The institute might put an advertisement on their website and local newspapers for the starting of the application procedure for the various nursing programs".

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Sc Nursing: The course is undergraduate, four-year, with a capacity of admitting 50 students. Candidates, who have successfully passed 10+2 level with science, are eligible for the application process.

Post Basic B.Sc Nursing: This programme has a student capacity of 30 students and is meant for qualified registered nurses aiming to enhance qualifications. Eligibility for candidates requires a diploma in nursing, also known as General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM).

GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery): This is a diploma program in nursing. Admissions are most probably on the basis of 10+2 qualifications with emphasis on science subjects.

M.Sc Nursing: The institution offers M.Sc Nursing courses in the specializations of Medical Surgical Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing, and Community Health Nursing. It is a two-year postgraduate course. Candidates who have completed the B.Sc nursing course are eligible for the admission. Admission procedure may be through entrance test or merit-based.
