The Post Graduate Research Institute in Animal Sciences, Kattupakkam (PGRIAS) is a constituent college of which was started in the year 1957. This institute is situated in Chennai Padappai, Tamil Nadu, which focused on improving research and education of animal sciences. Located in asepically large area of 609.58 hectares, PGRIAS provides specialized postgraduate and doctoral education. The institutes has a faculty team of only 8 members and this gives more attention to student along with trainer like relationship. PGRIAS offers two specialized degree programs: a Ph.D. in Animal Sciences and an M.V.Sc. in Animal Science which enables the development of competence in many paren Veterinary and Animal sciences.
From our commitment, PGRIAS aims at serving the best learning environment to all of its students. The institute has a rich library that provides important sources for students as well as faculty members in fulfilling their instructional and research activities of the university. The library not only acquires, processes and maintains collections but also offers access to such remote sources and means, allowing students work with the newest available information within animal sciences area. For practical knowledge, PGRIAS has equipped with centralized clinical laboratory and has its Pro-seminar-clinic laboratory to provide clinic-pathological model to the students. This facility is very important for general skill training and carrying superior study in animal science.
The institute offers two full-time courses: The University offers a 6-yr Ph.D. program in Animal Sciences and 2-yr M.V.Sc. in Animal Science. The following programs are meant to equip the customers with detailed knowledge and research opportunities specialized in different areas of animal science.
Admission process in PGRIAS is aimed at identifying Candidates with promising potential in the area of animal sciences. Most probably the admission of the institute follows the general admission policy of the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) in which it is situated. All these facilities work in complement to provide a suitable academic climate for learning and characterization in animal sciences.
