About Prasanna School of Public Health, Manipal

Prasanna School of Public Health, Manipal (PSPH) is a constituent college started in 2017 at Manipal, Karnataka. It is a reasonably young school that has established a name for itself in the subject of public health training. PSPH is located on a small plot of 0.33 of an acre and has 13 courses spread out across 4 degree programmes – all of which fall under public health and social work. The institute totals 299 students and operates with a staff of 26 highly inspired specialists. PSPH has always had niche programmes in such fields as epidemiology, health policy, and data science in health systems, inherent to its mission to prepare leaders in meeting pressing public health concerns of the society.

Prasanna School of Public Health also has a number of pro- learning accoutrements which are aimed at improving the learning environment for the students. These are such as; compounding of boys and girls hostels; simple accommodation for those who wish to be provided for, during our service. More to it, the campus is well endowed with a library, which provides students with lots of learning materials. Teaching laboratories are departmental and are used for the practical area of a variety of courses where students can get some real feel. For extra curricular activities such as academics and cultural activities, the institution has an assembly hall, or known as PSPH Auditorium; whereas the students chewing-nut and joking-nut place is the cafeteria. Student well-being is also of high value because there is a health centre for first aid, fitness centre for the athletic students, several sporting fields. Moreover, the campus equipped with state of art IT facilities so that students can have right technology for their learning process.

Currently, through the 13 programmes that it offers, PSPH provides only full time programmes. These include Master of Public Health (MPH) with sub specialisations in; Environmental and Occupational Health, Epidemiology and biostatistics, International Health and Policy, and Maternal and Child health. This institute also provides Master of Hospital Administration (MHA), Master of Social Work  (MSW) in Community Development, Human Resource Management & Industrial Relation, Medical & Psychiatric Social Work. In the field of data and health technology PSPH offers M.Sc. programmes in Biostatistics, Data Science, Digital Epidemiology & Health Technology.

The admission exercise that is practiced at PSPH involves the following steps in a way as being aimed at identifying the most appropriate candidates for its respective programmes. For most courses, the selection is made on merit of ranks secured in entrance tests and/or interviews wherever applicable. In some cases, for instance the MHA programme, if the interview or entrance examination is not conducted, then CAT scores could come in handy. For M.Sc. programmes in Data Science and Digital Epidemiology we do not conduct entrance exams or interviews, the merit rank will be considered based upon the percentage marks secured in Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science in any of the qualifying examinations. The MPH and MSW programmes are most likely to draw on the merit and personal interviews criteria for the purpose of selection.

Prasanna School of Public Health, Manipal (PSPH), occupies a noteworthy place as a constituent college. It is involved in training in public health and social work.   1. Choose the program the applicant is interested in applying to: MPH, MHA, MSW, or M.Sc programs.

  2. Check the eligibility criteria for the specific program in question.

  3. Prepare the required documents, which include:

Degree Wise Admission Process

MPH in Public Health: PSPH MPH offers itemized with environmental health, occupational health, epidemiology, global health, health policy, and health policy. Selection of candidates on a merit basis and personal interview. Preparing the students for leadership positions in public health.

MHA – Hospital Administration: Admission is offered on the basis of the merit obtained in the entrance examination and/or a personal interview. If the interview or entrance exam is absent, the score of the candidate in CAT may be considered.

MSW: In the field of MSW, the PSPH offers specializations in Community Development, HR Management and Industrial Relations, and Medical and Psychiatric Social Work. Selection of eligible candidates is based on merit and a personal interview.

M.Sc Programs:

  1. M.Sc in Biostatistics: Admissions will be on the basis of merit obtained in the entrance exam and/or personal interview; failing this, a merit rank will be based on scores obtained in Mathematics and/or Statistics in the qualifying examinations.

  2. M.Sc in Data Science and Digital Epidemiology: Merit rank will be assigned on the basis of percentage obtained in Mathematics, Statistics, and/or Computer Science in any of the qualifying exams, if none of the entrance exam or personal interview is conducted.

College facilities are adjustable. College do provide hostel facilities with free wifi and Library with 5 floor open till 11:30 pm. The college has a food court behind and we get food for affordable money. And maintained very hygiene.
