Priyadarshini Indira Gandhi Government College for Women, Jind came into existence in the year 2006 as a frontline institution of higher education for women. This government college has been continuously struggling to impart quality education to women who come to this campus from far-flung areas of Jind district of Haryana. The college is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council and imparts education in various undergraduate programs. The institution has a total enrolment of 2,811 students with a strength of 74 faculty members, thereby maintaining a very positive student-teacher ratio and ensuring personal attention and guidance to each student.
The college has excellent facilities for making learning an enriching experience and overall development of the students. At the center of such facilities stands the well-equipped library, centrally located on the first floor of the main building. It is has a spacious sitting capacity of 150. Infrastructure facilities for the sportsman include a 200-metre track shared with G.C. Jind; a multipurpose hall for indoor games like table tennis and badminton; fields for outdoor games such as handball, kho-kho, kabaddi, and cricket; and a multi-station gym that caters to the fitness needs of the students. The state-of-the-art multipurpose hall, which doubles as an auditorium, is the crowning glory of the campus. At the very first glance, one comes across an acoustically treated room with modern sound systems, used for a host of cultural and academic activities. Besides these, the college has well-maintained laboratories for hands-on practical experience, a canteen that can refresh one's body and mind, and a health center providing first-aid facilities to keep its students hale and hearty.
Priyadarshini Indira Gandhi Government College for Women offers a wide range of undergraduate courses to cater to varied academic interests. There are eight full-time courses running in the form of six undergraduate programs, which aim at enabling students with the proper kinds of knowledge and skills to be able to sustain themselves in the competitive world.
