SPA-D is a good option for your son because SPA-D is one of the best architecture institutes in India.
SPA-D founded in 1941.faculy and environment is best and also a good number of placements.
so according to me, you freeze the option.

Having such a good rank there are good chances of yours securing a seat in any NIT as for securing a seat in NIT one needs to have a rank under 2500 (3000 if having some quota) which you clearly surpass, so, you may not get an top NIT but will get one, always remember that any NIT is better than any other regular engineering college.
