Salasar Institute of Education, Agra is a premier institution for pre-service education of teachers. This institute offers two full-time course offerings—the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). Admission to this institute is fairly streamlined in accordance with certain policies defined by the government of the state of Uttar Pradesh as well as the university concerned.
Both the courses are conducted on merit. For B.Ed course admission, selection is based on the qualifying entrance examination entrance test scores, while D.El.Ed admissions work in the same line.
Eligibility varies according to the program. For D.El.Ed, a candidate is to have completed 10+2 with a minimum of 50 percent marks. Candidates for B.Ed should possess a bachelor's degree or a master's degree, with at least 50 percent marks, or a bachelor in engineering/technology with specialization in mathematics and science, with a minimum of 55 percent marks.
Application Process
General steps followed in admitting students into Salasar Institute of Education, Agra are as follows:
1. Notification of Admissions: Admissions are publicly notified by the institute through all media announcement channels, and through official notice.
2. Application Form: The interested candidates have to fill in the application form after getting it, which may be available online or in the campus offices.
3. Document Submission: Candidates need to fill out the application form and attach required documents, such as:
Marksheets of qualifying examinations (10 plus 2 for D.El.Ed, Bachelor's or Master's for B.Ed).
ID proof
Recent photos (passport size)
Caste certificate if applicable
Other documents as may be required by the institute or as per state government regulations.
4. Entrance Examination: If directed by state policy, candidates will appear for an entrance examination. Details of the examination would be notified by the institute.
5. Merit List Preparation: This merit list shall be prepared based on qualifying examinations and/or entrance tests.
6. Counseling and allotment of seats: Shortlisted candidates are then called for the counseling along with allotment of seats on the basis of merit and preference.
7. Fee Payment: All such candidates were required to pay the prescribed fees within the stipulated time frame to confirm their admission.
8. Document Verification: Selected document verification on candidates has been done before admission is closed for such candidates.
Degree-wise Admission Process
B.Ed (Bachelor of Education):
The B.Ed program at Salasar Institute of Education has an intake of 100 students. Admissions under this program are based on merit in the qualifying examination and/or entrance, and may further include any additional criterion as per policy of the State Government of Uttar Pradesh and the affiliated university. This is a two-year program which caters to the candidate's need to teach at the secondary level.
D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education):
The D.El.Ed program has a capacity of 50 seats, and follows a merit system for admission. Ultimately, candidates will be based on merit in the qualifying examination (10+2) and/or merit in the entrance examination. For that purpose, the admission process will follow any others as per direction from the policy of the State Government or UT Administration. This program is to be undertaken by those having the intent to teach at the primary level.
