School of Computing Sciences, VISTAS Chennai is one of the constituent college established in 1992 of Vels Institute of Science Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS), Chennai. The institute has its base in the turbulent city of Chennai and has established its position amon With over 29.93 acres of land area, the school has four programmes which provide 15 courses of study. It has a faculty of sixteen highly professionals and committed persons to facilitate the necessary environment for learning for the students of the institute. The Computing University offers the School of Computing Sciences with approval through the All India Council for Technical Education-AICTE to signal set standards regarding education.
In this regard, School of Computing Sciences has a wide modern range of educational facilities aimed at improving and encouraging the achievement of the students. An extensively built up library which occupies 20000 square feet, contains more than 125680 books and more than 165060 E-books besides it subscribes to more 374 periodical. The centre has many e-journals and e-books that make sure quality research and learning is conducted in the digital library. The campus has well equipped laboratories, Wi-Fi and an ultra modern auditorium with a 1500 seater capacity. To accommodate the students’ needs, the institute has managed to provide independent hostels for both boy’s and girl’s students for accommodating them during their studies. The campus also has sports complex, medical amenities and transport departments which makes an environment within the campus that improves the total personality of the students.
Students find courses provided at the School of Computing Sciences appropriate to meet all aspects of computer science and IT. This institute offers fifteen full time programmes, undergraduate, postgraduate and evening programmes. At the undergraduate level there are different BCA programmes- BCA, BCA Cloud Technology and Information Security, BCA Data Science and BCA Honours etc. The Bachelor of Science degree programmes offered include computer science, information technology, and cyber security, and artificial intelligence and machine learning. For postgraduation, the institute provides MCA and M.Sc in Computer Science, Information Technology and Software technology.
