"The School of Public Health and Social Medicine, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Loni  offers a wide range of programs in public health and social medicine. The institute has an admission process that is meant to select qualified candidates for its undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma courses. PIMS follows a merit-based admission system with specific procedures that vary from one program to another.

In general, academic sessions start in August and September. Also, the admission procedures begin a few months earlier. For undergraduate programs such as the Bachelor of Public Health (Hons), the admissions are through All India level PIMS-DU Common Entrance Test known as PIMS-DU CET. Postgraduate and diploma admission criteria may vary and involve selection based on merit from entrance exams and interviews.

Eligibility criteria vary by program but generally require completion of relevant undergraduate degrees for postgraduate courses. For instance, the Bachelor of Public Health (Hons) program requires completion of 10+2 education, while the Master of Public Health (MPH) and Master of Social Work programs require a bachelor's degree in relevant fields.

Application Process

"The application process for the School of Public Health and Social Medicine, PIMS, differs by program:

1. For the Bachelor of Public Health (Hons) program:

  • Register for the All India level PIMS-DU Common Entrance Test (PIMS-DU CET).
  • Attend the entrance examination on the specified date.
  • Pass the entrance test with a good ranking.
  • Wait for publishing the results with the merit list.
  • If the same is acceptable get formal process admission as indicated at the institute end.

2. For MPH and other masters'

  • Check requirements that are required for particular masters' as the institute
  • Online or form submissions through site / admissions counter.
  • Fill each form with careful data entry on your part with precision.
  • Attach each academic transcript etc copy, in support of your academic details, photo copies of important supporting documents proof and identification end.
  • The completed application form with an application fee well before the deadline for the submission of the application
  • In case of MPH, selection shall be made purely on the merit of qualification examination
  • Candidates so selected shall, if required, undergo additional rounds of selection processes.

3. Diploma Programs: The same procedure as Postgraduate programs apply:. Diploma in Optometry and Ophthalmic Assistant: Prepare for an official interview, which is considered a part of the admission process.

4. Master of Social Work:

  •  Apply according to the post graduate application procedure.
  •  At the time of application, mention relevant experience or family background in social work.

Documents:

  • Duly filled application form
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Academic transcripts and certificates, 10th, 12th and graduation, if applicable
  • Identity proof and address proof
  • If applicable, caste certificate
  • Any specific documents that the program has mentioned in the application guidelines
  • It is always better to submit an application before the deadline so that some last-minute problems do not arise.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.P.H. (Hons): PIMS offers a Bachelor of Public Health (Hons) program with an intake of 15 seats. Admission is done at the All India level through PIMS-DU Common Entrance Test (PIMS-DU CET). Candidates should have completed their 10+2 education.

MPH: It offers 10 seats. Admission is strictly on merit, which takes into consideration the candidate's performance in the qualifying examination. Eligibility generally requires a bachelor's degree in an appropriate field. The total course fee is Rs 120,000.

M.S.W.: The Master of Social Work program has 10 seats. Admission is on merit in the qualifying examination and on a first-come-first-served basis. Preference is given to candidates with undergraduate degrees in Sociology, Psychology, Politics, or Economics, and those with a family background in social work. The course fee is Rs 60,000.

Diploma in Optometry and Ophthalmic Assistant: It provides 10 seats. Admission is based on merit in the qualifying examination, strictly first-come-first-served, and on formal interview. The course fee is Rs 60,000.

PG Diploma in Epidemiology and Biostatistics:, it is offered at PIMS. The course fee is Rs 30,000.  but probably based on merit.
